The Interactive Science Center of Amadora city (CCVA) is an interactive space of science and technology. Opened to the public since September of 2003 it is an integrant part of the entire Group of interactive science spaces all over the country. Its main goal is to promote the diffusion of the scientific and technological culture between the citizens. The interactive exhibitions and the activities allow to the visitor the exploration of many and varied subjects in an active, relaxed and playful way.
This Science Center is installed in Aprígio Gomes’house, an outstanding building of Amadora city that belongs to the municipal council. This was the residence of José Aprígio Gomes, born in Lisbon at July,22 of 1867, that became known by its one elevated civic conscience and self-taught capacity. Because his passion by the sciences it bought an astronomical mini-telescope and installed it in the house's mini-tower.
